More What?!

Today I am thankful for phones with video. As much as I despise Kevin's phone at times it does come in handy every now and then. He was able to get a video of Landon asking for more. It sounds like Landon is asking for more...well you be the judge!

A for Effort

Landon already consumed two cereal bars and two packages of fruit snacks by 10:00 a.m. today. He asked for more fruit snacks and when I told him no he came up with a solution. He went to get one of his toy dinosaurs and had the dinosaur ask me for more! Apparently dinosaurs love fruit snacks too. I laughed and then gave the fruit snacks to the dinosaur. Landon then said that the dinosaur didn't like them and that the dinosaur was going to share with "boy". Landon certainly gets an A for effort today on creativity!

Today's thing that I am thankful for is public libraries. We go to the library regularly. They have story time and a play area for toddlers that Landon loves. They always have the latest releases for books and movies. You just have to reserve them online and then when they become available you go pick them up from the holding area. It doesn't get much simpler than that. Materials don't even have to be returned from the check out locations. I can return our items at any Jacksonville library. The library is a big part of our lives and I'm thankful that there are people there who keep things running smoothly so that we can enjoy all of the perks that the library offers.

Bedtime Thanks

Today I am thankful for Chick-fil-a and their peppermint milkshakes. Those things are amazing! It tastes like you are biting into a candy cane. Another thanks is for bed times. Landon's bed time to be precise. I love spending every waking moment with Landon, but I also look forward to his bedtime. I love snuggling up with him and reading bedtime stories. I love how silly he gets and all of the kisses he gives me in an effort to stay awake. Most of all I love the Mommy time that comes after bed time. I know everyone can relate to that. Landon's bedtime use to be a time that I dreaded. It meant that I was now all alone for the evening and completely bored. Now I am beginning to like the alone time. I catch up on some reading and do things that I don't have time to do other wise like painting my nails! I know I should use his early bed time to my advantage and get some cleaning done, but I'd rather use my "Mommy" time for selfish things. So thank you Landon for being such a good boy and going to bed on time. Mommy loves you!

Family Thanks

Today I am thankful for family. Both old and new, near and far. I am currently surrounded by most of my family and it's been a great evening. The random get togethers are what I love most. When we're just sitting around acting silly and enjoying one another's company. I'm thankful that Landon has so much family around on a regular basis. He loves everyone and adores wrestling with his uncles like he is currently doing. I don't know what we'd do without family. Unlike friends who can walk out of your life at any given time because of something stupid, family is always there. Family loves unconditionally and takes the good with the bad. They accept your faults and don't run away when the going gets tough...at least not my family. For that I am thankful.

Thankful for Health

Today I am thankful that nobody really reads this. That way I can skip a day of posting and nobody knows! I was feeling kind of sick yesterday and just didn't feel like posting anything. Today I am thankful that I am feeling better. There's no such thing as a paid sick day for me. Or even a stay in bed while someone else takes care of Landon day for me. I need to be in tip top shape at all times to chase after my Landon Love. If there are days where I am feeling less than perfect, then Landon somehow senses that. He takes it a little bit easier on me when I'm not feeling well and I am most definitely thankful for that.

I should give a quick Landon update. I took him to the doctor the other day for a check up and Landon now weighs 35 lbs! They didn't measure his height, but he's about 37 inches now. I'm not 100% sure on his height, but he sure is getting tall. He comes pass my belly button! He's also talking more and more these days...almost non stop. I need to get a video of him asking for more of something. It's the funniest thing. I think that may be my project for tomorrow morning. Potty training has been going rather well this weekend. That is, if Landon is bottomless. If he has a diaper on then he could care less about stopping whatever he's doing. He'll just pee in his diaper. I even tried putting underwear on him thinking that the pee going down his leg would be uncomfortable so he would have to get up and go to the bathroom. Nope. It didn't work. He just continued playing in the middle of his pee puddle. When he's butt naked there's not one single accident throughout the day. We stayed in all day Friday and he went on his potty seat 6 times. He's done it quite a number of times since too. As long as he can run around naked then potty training will be a breeze. Those darn diapers are what throws him off guard! He will pee in his diaper and then take it off. I don't know why he can't seem to stop himself beforehand like he does when he's diaper free. Hopefully after a few more days of staying inside diaper free we'll be seeing a potty trained Landon....a mom can dream right?!

Thanks Day 3

Today I am thankful that Landon knows no better. That no matter what happens throughout the day and how many times I fail he still thinks that I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread. I tried several different activities today with Landon that all resulted in a flop. I wanted to take him bike riding, but lost the key to the lock- fail! I then decided to show him how a slinky goes down the stairs. The only problem? I couldn't get the slinky to go down the stairs- fail #2. My last attempt at a fun afternoon was to fly a kite. I couldn't get the kite off of the ground- fail #3. I blame that one on the fact that I haven't flown a kite in 20 years, but how hard can it really be?! No matter how many things I failed at today Landon still had a blast. He knew no better. He didn't know what a slinky or kite was. Let alone what they were suppose to do. He thought that kite flying was a game where you just ran with the string! He ran back and forth dragging the kite behind him for quite some time. He would laugh and say that the gator was chasing him. He would then turn around and growl at the gator!

He also thought it was fun to just kick the slinky down the stairs and shout hooray when he reached the bottom. Thanks goodness he is only two and still knows no better. I'm going to be in trouble if we have an afternoon like this in a few years when he does know better. Even with the afternoon failures we did end the evening on a high note...a dance off in the kitchen while I was cooking dinner. Those are my favorite sort of evenings. Even if it does mean listening to the Tigger and Scooby Doo songs over and over and over again!

Park Thanks

I am thankful for near by parks. Parks that are open year round because of the Florida weather. Parks that have AstroTurf grass so that our feet don't get dirty from the sand or bit up by ants. Parks with plenty of shade for afternoon reading and picnic lunches. Parks with big boy swings so that Landon can learn new things.

Parks that are fenced in so that children can run around without worry of being hit by cars. Parks that allow said children to run around freely with reckless abandon and chase after their Mommies while growling at them!

Most importantly, I am thankful for parks that have indoor plumbing. I would much rather come across a lizard on the toilet seat than a snake in a bush!

Thankful for Smiles

I woke up in an amazingly good mood this morning. You know, one of those moods where nothing can bring you down. It made me think how thankful I am for what I do have. So up until Thanksgiving I will post a quick little something about what I am thankful for. Today it is easy- I am thankful for Landon. I am thankful for the way he wakes me up with kisses and tickles. I am thankful for his early morning smiles and his contagious laughter. I am thankful for every morning that starts with all of those things.

I am thankful for every morning that begins with this smile!

Can We Buy a Vowel?

VHS, DVD...aren't they all the same? The only difference is a consonant or two. At least that is what Landon thinks. Jenn had a large box of old VHS tapes out and Landon found them. He discovered the Winnie the Pooh tape. He asked me to play it and took it over to the DVD player. I told him that it doesn't work on the DVD player. Landon had a simple solution for that. He lifted his shirt and rubbed the VHS tape on his belly to clean it! I then had to tell him that it still wouldn't work. Landon had yet another easy solution. He told me to get batteries for it! If only it were that easy. Landon's response and reaction to our VHS dilemma was priceless. He sure did give me a good laugh. I wonder what he'd do if he ever came across a cassette tape...maybe I'll hunt down my old Walkman for him.

Landon's Antics

Landon takes me by complete surprise at times. I don't know why I am continually surprised by his antics, but I am daily. He is always finding new ways to get into trouble. Landon had asked me for a popsicle one afternoon and I told him to wait a minute. I was cleaning up our mess on the patio. When I come in I find Landon coming up with a way to get to the popsicles all by himself!

Earlier that same day Landon comes into the bathroom and proceeds to tell me to "come come". I was in the shower, but Landon was so persistent that I got out of the shower to see what was going on. I thought something was wrong. He grabs hold of my hand and pulls me out to the living room. As we approach the living room Landon says "mess, total mess". I couldn't figure out what he was talking about. That was until he walked me over to his toy area. It didn't take me long to realize what the "total mess" was! Landon sure does know how to keep me busy. Luckily he helped me pick the total mess of his up. I just loved the way he said "total mess". It was such an urgent matter to Landon to get the mess picked up. I'm still trying to figure out why he created the mess if he didn't like the total mess! I guess I will never understand the thought process of a two year old.

When Landon isn't being a mischievous two year old he is usually found running around with socks on his hands. I have no idea how this started, but he'd been doing it for a few weeks now. Daily he will get two socks out and place them on his hands. He will run around like that for the majority of the day. Landon is such a silly boy!

Ahoy Matey!

We had a great time this Halloween. We all went as pirates. Landon made the cutest little pirate. Landon was able to go trick-or-treating twice this year. Landon was so cute this year. Last year he didn't know what was going on. This year Landon knew that if he took his bucket to the doors then he would receive candy. He also learned how to say "trick or treat" and he always said "thank you" once he was given candy without being prompted. A few people took pictures of us, which was a little weird. I guess they couldn't resist the cuteness that is Landon. Who can blame them?!

The eye patch last for 0.02 seconds. As soon as this picture was snapped Landon pulled it off and it broke.

 Landon tasting his candy.

Being Landon- collecting acorns rather than candy. He wanted to feed them to Piglet.

The pumpkin. It looked a lot better the day before. By the time I took this pic the mouth was no longer visible. All of the teeth had sunken in. He's now a toothless pirate!
