Doctor Trips and Bike Rides

So it's been a while since I've been on the internet. I have a few minutes to post a quick update. Landon is doing well. He gave Kevin and I a little scare last week, but I'm happy to report that he's back to his old self running circles around me. He awoke in the middle of the night last week with a bloody nose, fever, and coughing. The bloody nose really had us freaked out. We knew it was nothing too serious because it didn't bleed too terribly bad, but with it being accompanied with a fever and cough I was a little panicked. Just to be safe we took Landon to the doctor the following morning. He was no longer coughing and only had a slight fever so all was well. The bloody nose was either from allergies or nose picking. Both are high on Landon's list so who knows what caused it. I'm sure the doctor thought we were crazy for bringing him in, but we would rather bring him and it wind up being for nothing rather than not bringing him in and miss warning signs to a potential problem. So all is now well with Landon.

His favorite activity as of lately is to ride his bike along side mine. It's such a blast riding along side him. It's still weird not having to pull him along behind me in the bike trailer. Landon was smiling at me so much today while we were riding that he didn't see a curb or hear my warnings and his bike stopped when it hit the curb and Landon continued going. His knees and elbows are a little scraped, but after a few minutes of walking his "bad" bike he decided it was easier to just ride it home. We've had so much rain lately that it is nice to be able to get outside and go for a bike ride, even if it is just for thirty minutes or so.

I promise soon enough I will get some more posts and pictures up.

Squirrel!

You've gotta love the attention span of three year olds. Landon was riding his bike today and stopped once he saw a squirrel. He got off of his bike to chase the squirrel. He kept doing this every single time he saw a squirrel. This occurred numerous times since we were at a park with a number of trees. All I could do was laugh. It reminded me of that clip from the movie "Up" where the dog would stop mid sentence when he saw a squirrel.

Thanks Day 3

Today I am thankful that Landon knows no better. That no matter what happens throughout the day and how many times I fail he still thinks that I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread. I tried several different activities today with Landon that all resulted in a flop. I wanted to take him bike riding, but lost the key to the lock- fail! I then decided to show him how a slinky goes down the stairs. The only problem? I couldn't get the slinky to go down the stairs- fail #2. My last attempt at a fun afternoon was to fly a kite. I couldn't get the kite off of the ground- fail #3. I blame that one on the fact that I haven't flown a kite in 20 years, but how hard can it really be?! No matter how many things I failed at today Landon still had a blast. He knew no better. He didn't know what a slinky or kite was. Let alone what they were suppose to do. He thought that kite flying was a game where you just ran with the string! He ran back and forth dragging the kite behind him for quite some time. He would laugh and say that the gator was chasing him. He would then turn around and growl at the gator!

He also thought it was fun to just kick the slinky down the stairs and shout hooray when he reached the bottom. Thanks goodness he is only two and still knows no better. I'm going to be in trouble if we have an afternoon like this in a few years when he does know better. Even with the afternoon failures we did end the evening on a high note...a dance off in the kitchen while I was cooking dinner. Those are my favorite sort of evenings. Even if it does mean listening to the Tigger and Scooby Doo songs over and over and over again!

Learning and Growing

The past couple of days have been very low key. On Saturday we took Landon to the park to ride his bike.

After the park we went to celebrate another little boy's 1st birthday. Landon was very hesitant to interact with the other one year olds, but by the time we were getting ready to leave he started warming up a bit more. I'm hoping to take him on more play dates so that he learns how to interact with other babies. On Sunday my Mom made dinner and cake for Kevin since his birthday was on Friday. Today and yesterday has just been spent cooped up in the house because of all of the rain. We haven't been on a walk in days. I can't wait for this rain to pass through. We are ready for some fresh air. Landon is now standing pretty well on his own. He let go of the dvd tower earlier this morning to dance around to his music for about 3 minutes. He also can now climb up onto the couch and he's figured out how to drop his balls into the ball popper. Landon has also learned how to give us items when we ask for them and how to roll and throw a ball to us. He's learning things so quickly. Landon is also getting several more teeth at one time. He's been extra fussy lately, but who can blame him? Tooth #8 popped through on his birthday and is still making it's way through and today #9 popped through. He has 3 more teeth getting ready to pop through as well. His poor gums are so swollen and he will now bring me the orajel when he needs it.

I've had to push Landon around indoors on his bike because of all of the rain. He wants to ride it so desperately that he has resorted to climbing into it on his own!
