Mommy loves Landon!

Landon was being very secretive during his bath tonight. He has tub crayons that we draw with on a daily basis. Tonight he closed the shower curtain and told me that I wasn't allowed to look until he was finished. When he pulled back the shower curtain I saw this:

It was a wonderful surprise. I love when I see the hard work of teaching him his letters and spelling pay off. Especially when it is done in such a way like this!

Loving Landon

It's been a while. That seems to be the trend as of lately. The past couple of weeks have been kind of crazy. Landon was really sick for a while there. He had a high fever for almost a solid week combined with a terrible cough, which caused asthma issues. Kevin and I took him to the doctor and all was well. Well as in he didn't require any medication, but not well as in he was just fine. The fever that wouldn't break was the biggest concern, but luckily it broke soon after the trip to the doctor. I think this was the longest amount of time that Landon has been sick for. He just laid on the couch for several days not doing much of anything. He seems to never have much of an appetite when he's sick, but he has been making up for that. It was hard seeing him sick, but we are so very glad that he is up and running around again.

It does look like Landon's asthma that only acted up when he was sick is turning into a permanent thing. He had to do a number of breathing treatments while he was sick, which we were expecting, but the doctor mentioned that he believes Landon now has exercise induced asthma. For the past year or so Landon has been coughing quite a bit after running and becomes short of breath and starts wheezing at times. I was hoping that it was just me being paranoid, but it looks like he is taking after me more and more, including the asthma. It just means that Landon has to take his inhaler a little more often. He has to take it before he plays. We'll then see if it helps with his coughing.

Other than this brief sickness that Landon had he is doing really well. He's growing like a weed. I can't believe that our baby boy is almost four. It just doesn't seem possible. Landon surprises us daily with his new sayings and Landonisms. I caught a slight cough from Landon and one evening while washing the dishes I started coughing. Landon walked into the kitchen, started rubbing my back and then started singing "Rock-a-bye-baby" to me, but replaced the "baby" part with "Mommy." It was one of the sweetest things I have seen him do. He's constantly doing little things like that. He sure does know how to make every day enjoyable. I think Kevin and I can both agree that the best part of Landon is how loving he is. He is constantly walking up to us and giving random hugs and kisses followed by saying "I love you Mommy" or "I love you Daddy" at the most random of times. Mommy and Daddy love you too Landon and are so glad that you are feeling better.

Cows Love Chicken!

I have always told Landon "I love you like pigs love pies." It's been something that I have said to him ever since he was an infant. It came from a bed time book that I recite to him nightly. He usually responds with "I love you thiiiiiis much" and he stretches his arms out really wide. The other night he responded with "I love you like cows love chicken!" Yeah, some little boy goes to Chick-fil-a a lot and always has chicken and cows on the brain!

Two Again

Dinner time is always an interesting time. I never know what Landon is going to say or do come dinner time. The other night was no exception. I put Landon's plate down in front of him and he wasn't thrilled. I made baked chicken tenders, potatoes, and carrots with sugar and cinnamon. I refuse to make dinner time into a battle in regards to Landon eating his food. I do, however, try encouraging him to at least take one bite of everything. Landon eventually licked all of the sugar off of the carrots, but refused to actually take a bite of them. When I asked him to take a little bite his response gave me quite the laugh. Landon folded his arms to his chest and said, "I don't want to take little bite. I want to be two again." I guess two year olds aren't made to eat their carrots!

Later on that same night we did our normal bed time routine. Landon picked out three books and I read them to him. I then told him "I love you, goodnight". He responded with a little grunt and said "loves you too, but I don't like you!" My precious little three year old told me that he didn't like me because he had to go to bed. At least he still loves me!

Summer Fun

One of my most favorite parts of summer is the afternoon rain showers. It may mean that we are stuck indoors for a little while, but they never last for long and they allow us to have plenty of fun after wards. After a good rain I love to take Landon outside to jump in the puddles. It's always a lot of fun and he could spend hours jumping and splashing.
Another part of summer that we are beginning to enjoy is swimming. I have always loved pools, but Landon never shared the same love for pools. That was until yesterday. We spent two hours in the pool. Landon actually swam in the pool for two whole hours! I was amazed. It took him all summer last year just to become brave enough to sit on the ledge of the pool. Last month he would go as far as the second step, but now his is a little fish in the pool. He wouldn't let go of me or of the swimming ring that someone allowed him to borrow, but he had a blast. I'm so happy that Landon learned to love the pool. I see a lot more swimming in our near future. The only down fall to all of the swimming is Landon crashing. He fell asleep on the floor as I was making dinner. He napped until almost 8:00 p.m. which made for a very late night. I guess our pool time will have to be in the mornings for now on so that he doesn't crash in the evenings just before bed time.

Day 12: Love of Purple

Day 12: A picture of something that I love.

I love all things purple. It's become an obsession almost. Everything I owned was purple. From the living room throw pillows to the dining room chair covers. Purple candles to a purple bed comforter. Now that I have to task of re-buying everything I was thinking about going with a different color scheme. Who am I kidding? Everything will once again be purple. I can almost guarantee it! I have seen dogs dyed purple before and have even considered dying Tink's hair. If I didn't think it would traumatize Landon, then Tink probably would be dyed purple. I just love the color purple!

Love is...

Love is daylight savings time that makes outdoor playtime after dinner possible.

Love is that high flying feeling you get when you swing above the trees.

Love is evening walks in perfect weather with my two loves.

Love is holding an itty bitty hand.

Love is Landon's silly expression.

Love is simply Landon.

Landon Love- How I Love Thee

My last post was kind of a vent about how tough things have been with Landon lately. He really is an amazing little boy, even on the most difficult of days. I just wanted to balance out the venting post with a post compiled of all of the reasons why I love Landon. So here goes:

  • I love Landon's sweet kisses and hugs

  • I love his adorable, contagious giggles and charming smile

  • I love how open his heart is

  • I love that Landon always takes a minute to enjoy each and every blade of grass on our walks

  • I love the way his eyes light up when he discovers a new leaf or rock

  • I also love putting those leaves and rocks in my pocket because he always comes back to my pockets several hours later for them...he knows that Mommy kept them safe for him.

  • I love that he has complete trust in me

  • I love laying on the slide and gazing at the clouds, birds, and planes with him

  • I love that he has no fear and is ready to take on the world at all times

  • I love that he has his own mind, even if it does drive me nuts at times!

  • I love the way he comes running to me with outstretched arms

  • I love the way he walks up to me and kisses my leg for no apparent reason

  • I love his eagerness to learn and try new things

  • I love his innocence and how he doesn't see fault in people. He loves everyone and even kisses strange people and pets while we are out and about.
  • I just simply love Landon!
