Bedtime Antics and Carnival Rides

"Mommy I want to come hug you."
"Mommy I'm stuffy and need some more medicine."
"Mommy I'm thirsty. See? (I can only assume that he's opening up his mouth nice and wide at this point.) See Mommy? I told you I am thirsty. Can you hear it? My throat is making thirsty noises."
"Mommy I want to hug you again."

These were all of the attempts that Landon made to get out of bed tonight. He tries different tactics every night, but the one that always works is when he asks if he can get out of bed to give me a hug. He knows I'll never turn down a hug so he tries it more than once every night and he makes it a really long hug. He won't get any complaints out of me for that one!

Some parents might become aggravated over this night after night, but I tend to enjoy it. I know these bed time antics won't last for forever and some of the things that he comes up with are rather amusing. Landon has already reached the point where it is a struggle for me to be able to lift him up. Those days of carrying him are long gone and I miss them so much. I now try to savor each and every moment even if it means that I have to tell him to get back to bed a dozen times.

In other Landon related news, I took him to the carnival this evening. I wasn't sure whether he would ride any of the rides, but I was at least hoping to have him sit with me on the ferris wheel. He took one look at it and decided that he wasn't going to ride it. He kept saying that it went too high up. He finally got onto two rides without a problem. The first one I rode with him and the second one he wanted to do all by himself. He had one more ride worth of tickets left and decided to go onto a car ride. The emergency stop button had to be pressed as soon as the ride went around the first turn. It went a little too fast for Landon and he freaked out. We're making progress though. The last time we went to the carnival the emergency stop button was pushed on his very first ride attempt. When we were leaving he said to me, "Mommy I was scared, but that means that I still had a little fun because I was only scared on one ride. I wasn't scared on two rides so I had a little fun still." I'm glad that you had fun Landon. Those are the moments Mommy strives for.

Two Again

Dinner time is always an interesting time. I never know what Landon is going to say or do come dinner time. The other night was no exception. I put Landon's plate down in front of him and he wasn't thrilled. I made baked chicken tenders, potatoes, and carrots with sugar and cinnamon. I refuse to make dinner time into a battle in regards to Landon eating his food. I do, however, try encouraging him to at least take one bite of everything. Landon eventually licked all of the sugar off of the carrots, but refused to actually take a bite of them. When I asked him to take a little bite his response gave me quite the laugh. Landon folded his arms to his chest and said, "I don't want to take little bite. I want to be two again." I guess two year olds aren't made to eat their carrots!

Later on that same night we did our normal bed time routine. Landon picked out three books and I read them to him. I then told him "I love you, goodnight". He responded with a little grunt and said "loves you too, but I don't like you!" My precious little three year old told me that he didn't like me because he had to go to bed. At least he still loves me!

Bedtime Thanks

Today I am thankful for Chick-fil-a and their peppermint milkshakes. Those things are amazing! It tastes like you are biting into a candy cane. Another thanks is for bed times. Landon's bed time to be precise. I love spending every waking moment with Landon, but I also look forward to his bedtime. I love snuggling up with him and reading bedtime stories. I love how silly he gets and all of the kisses he gives me in an effort to stay awake. Most of all I love the Mommy time that comes after bed time. I know everyone can relate to that. Landon's bedtime use to be a time that I dreaded. It meant that I was now all alone for the evening and completely bored. Now I am beginning to like the alone time. I catch up on some reading and do things that I don't have time to do other wise like painting my nails! I know I should use his early bed time to my advantage and get some cleaning done, but I'd rather use my "Mommy" time for selfish things. So thank you Landon for being such a good boy and going to bed on time. Mommy loves you!

Big Boy!

I haven't blogged in a little while, but for good reason. I will get a blog up shortly on how Landon and I spent our little vacation. Until then here is a quick update on our Landon love. Landon now refers to himself as "boy". Landon still can't say "Landon" so he was referring to himself as "baby". The other morning he woke up and decided he was no longer a baby because he started referring to himself as boy out of nowhere. It was the funniest thing. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. According to Landon he is all grown up now. If only he realized that big boys don't use diapers! Landon still loves Tigger and Pooh, but is also now a big fan of Mickey. It all started with our trip to Disney. Now he loves Mickey Mouse. He is also becoming quite the talker. Just last week I had three people comment about how well he talks for being two. I was still thinking that Landon was a little behind, but now I think he is right on track with talking when I hear other parents commenting how well he talks. In the past month alone Landon's vocab has more than tripled. He still signs a bit, but tends to say the actual words while signing. I am continually amazed by how well Landon verbally communicates now. I guess he really is becoming a "boy"! I'm also slowly building up Landon's winter wardrobe. Once again we may have a problem with getting pants to fit him. He fits perfectly into 24 month pants when we adjust the waist, but the length is becoming too short. 3T pants are too big on the waist even when adjusted, but the length is perfect. Landon isn't even extremely thin. I don't understand why we have such a difficult time finding pants to fit him properly. Maybe I will really learn how to sew one of these days and create a toddler clothing line that actually fits toddlers properly. Bedtime has become quite the joke around here lately. Landon now postpones bedtime. I really thought I had a few more years before he started doing that. He will ask for juice as soon as I tell him his final goodnight. Once I get him juice and tell him one last time to go to sleep he tells me that he has to pee. This coming from the boy who can't seem to pee on the potty seat during the day. I can't help but laugh at it every night. Now after Landon's done drinking his juice and insisting on sitting on the potty seat one last time he will say every word in his vocab. He'll start off naming everyone (Mommy, Daddy, Tinkie, Jenn, Mom Mom, and so on). Then he moves on to his animals (tiger, lion, zebra, giraffe). He'll go on and on and will even start to say his opposites (light/dark, up/down, on/off, hot/cold). He will literally start saying everything that he knows in no certain order. I think he just makes himself talk so that he stays awake. I sure hope this is a short lived phase of his, but something is telling me that it will only get worse before it gets better. I do love his persistence though. Since this blog was a lot of rambling about no one thing, I will end it with what everyone loves- a picture of Landon! This picture will also serve as a sneak peek for what is about to come.
